Our Rootstock Process
Our rootstock is grown in a specialized, Australia-wide stool bed system, designed to maximize the health and size of our crops. First, the rootstock is planted in the beds and a layer of sawdust is added over top. As the rootstock grows, it produces suckers that develop their own root systems under the blanket of sawdust. Once they have established roots, our unique stool bed cutter easily harvests and grades them into sizes suitable for our customers’ needs while being carefully packaged to ensure maximum freshness on delivery.

At Hazelbrook Farm Nursery, we have over 80 acres of land where we grow and harvest all the rootstock to be packaged and delivered to our clients across Australia. Our plants are grown with the varied climate of Australia in mind; there are several varieties for our apple, cherry, and plum rootstocks that each have different traits. You may require more vigorous rootstock for more extreme climates, and we offer various grades of rootstock based on your planting methods and preferences.
